Dear Chavi,
I don't think you and I have met but I wanted to share a memory that we have of your special father. We've been members of the Silver Spring community for the past five years or so and had the privilege of knowing Dr. Karkowsky.
He was one of the first people who introduced himself to us in shul after we moved to the neighborhood. Every time we encountered your father after our initial meeting we were so moved by his friendly and kind nature. First he would take the time to inquire as to our children's and our well-being. Then, he would turn his attention to our kids, beaming at them with his tremendous smile, performing his signature shaking-hand hand-shake, and caressing their heads.
Though we did not know you father well, we felt so appreciated and embraced by his warmth. We will miss him dearly.
May Hashem comfort you amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
With Warm Regards,
Hilary and Avrum Leeder
